connect, collaborate, and Grow with Catholic youth ministers around the world
FEBRUARY 26TH @ 2PM EST

THIS IS NOT JUST ANOTHER TRAINING CONFERENCE.
We believe that everyone needs to take some time to focus on self-care. But unfortunately, youth ministers often give until their buckets are empty – and even past that.

When our vocation is to love and serve young people, it's often hard to remember to take care of ourselves. But it is SO important! We can’t pour out of an empty bucket. We need to be regularly poured into, rejuvenated, and revived.

That’s what THRIVECON is all about this year! We are focusing on the 4 Pillars of Catholic Formation. You'll get tools and tips on growing in Human Formation, Intellection Formation, Spiritual Formation, and Pastoral Formation.

You'll walk away from the day with a better understanding of the balance needed to really thrive in ministry.

BOB RICE

YOUTH MINISTRY PROFESSOr
Bob's day job is teaching courses in catechetics, Scripture, youth ministry, Church history, and music ministry at Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio. But on top of that: he travels around talking about Jesus to teenagers and adults, leads worship for over ten thousand people each year, has recorded fourteen CDs, hosts a show on EWTN, and has published several books – so I guess that makes him a professor / speaker / musician / television personality / author.

More importantly, he's madly in love with his wife and seven adorable kids – so add “husband” and “father” to that list.

But, Bob says: "When I die (and die we all will) all of those titles will fade and I’ll be left with just one: a child of God."

MEGAN MASTROIANNI

Associate Director of Anthem (Archdiocese of Philadelphia)
Megan graduated from Franciscan University in 2009 expecting to just do one year of ministry before going to graduate school. But every year went by and she thought “just one more year.” Needless to say, she has been in full-time ministry since graduation, dabbling in pro-life ministry and speaking on a national level as well. Megan spent many years at an all-girls high school in Maryland, Mount de Sales Academy, serving as the Campus Minister. This is where her passion for youth ministry grew, and her love for discipleship, evangelization, and healing ministry flourished.

Since then, Megan has become the Coordinator of Outreach at Anthem for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. She is passionate about her work, and she is grateful that God calls the weak to lead the strong.

HEATHER FLIES

JUNIOR HIGH PASTOR
Heather loves junior high students. In fact, she'll tell you that if you cut her she BLEEDS junior high. Her primary ministry is as the Junior High Pastor at Wooddale Church in Eden Prairie, MN, but outside the walls of Wooddale Church, Heather spends a great deal of time as a communicator.

Heather loves football, NASCAR racing, the color orange and country music. She owns 249 bottles of nail polish, 89 pairs of shorts and loves to drink Diet Coke from her 64-ounce mugs. She is the daughter of a long-distance truck driver and the youngest of six children. And she has more energy than any other person on the planet – except maybe junior high students.

DIRECTOR OF Multicultural ministry for nfcym
Darius Villalobos joined the staff of the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM) in October of 2018 as the Director of Multicultural Ministry. Born and raised in Chicago, Darius spent the last ten years working at the Archdiocese in a variety of ministry roles relating to youth ministry, young adult ministry, and faith formation.

Before working at the diocese, he served as a parish youth minister, retreat director, catechist, RCIA director, liturgical minister and musician, and choir director. He lives in Chicago with his wife, and looks forward to helping NFCYM live into its values of diversity and inclusion.

JACOB KING

DIRECTOR OF ANTHEM (ARCHDIOCESE OF PHILADELPHIA)
Jacob King is the Director of Anthem, the Office of Youth and Young Adults for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

In his own words: "I can’t quite figure out if I'm still a Slim Shady wannabe or a grown up with a mini van. Having kids call me 'Dad' makes me lean towards the latter, but my Eminem tattoo keeps me guessing."

WHAT ATTENDEES SAID ABOUT
PREVIOUS CONFERENCES:
"Thank you for a great conference! That was a great way to spend 2.5 hours. Not only do I feel inspired and empowered, I have practical tools to implement some things that have been on my heart. Thank you for the reminder that it's not my ministry, but the ministry of the Church. This reminder lifted a huge weight when I'm caught up feeling that I have to do everything, and be everything, and give everything."
– JEREMY (BUFFALO, NY) –
"I was thoroughly impressed with the Thrive Conference today. Thank you very much for allowing me to log on and be in there with you all! I liked the diversity in topics which gave me the chance to explore different facets within youth ministry. Yet at the same time the areas of concern for this conference flowed together in the similar foundational direction making them seem like so many different pieces of the puzzle which is journeying along with young people.
– FRIAR CHARLEY –
This was amazing. I love the live chat along with the conference so we could share our thoughts and struggles. I am just starting in youth ministry and loved this blast of formation and resources!
– EMMANUELA (GRAND RAPIDS, MI) –
